    Exhibition Introduction

Located on the shore of Suzhou Creek, the M50 Creative Park is one of the earliest artistic sites with an industrial history in China. Its predecessor, Xinhe Yarn Mill, was established in 1937 and was turned into a creative park in 1999. The conservation project emphasizes the site’s non-tangible cultural assets and significance in its recent two decades as a creative park. Because of its relevance to the cultural life of Shanghai, the artistic and creative function of the M50 creative park is recognized by professionals and the public sector as worth further developing.

The site project consists of “Exhibition of Urban Planning Along the 21km of Suzhou Creek in Putuo District”, “History of M50 Creative Park”, “Shanghart Gallery 20th Anniversary Art Exhibition” and “Forum of Urban Renewal and Art Development in Suzhou Creek Waterfront”. The exhibitions, forums and the site itself offer an integrated picture of historical landscape, urban vitality and development of four primary brands, nicely fitting in the theme “how waterfronts bring wonderful life to people” of SUSAS 2019.
