Lujiazui Community sits at the center of Lujiazui Finance City. Its jurisdiction, bordered by Yuanshen Road on its east, Zhangyang Road on its south and Huangpu River on its north and west, covers an area of 6.89 km2 .The community includes Central Finance City (1.7km2) and New Shanghai Business City (0.24km2). It has an actual population of 126,000, a registered population of 117,000. Also, 48,000 people migrate to Lujiazui from other parts of China and 7,000 from abroad. In total, 300,000 people work here. Lujiazui has 31 residential neighborhoods, 109 office buildings and over 9,200 trade or social organizations. Its plan of 15-Minute Community Life Circle aims at “Integration of Industries and City, Collaboration of Two Cities”, and intends to create an example for highly-urbanized 15-minute community life circles through a new series of three-year planning, urban revitalization, cultural events and community facility renewal.

Curatorial Program

Lujiazui Community holds a variety of leisure facilities, pieces of art and exhibitions. Under the theme “Art Mobilization: When the Community Becomes a Work of Art”, Lujiazui offers three elaborate routes – Meiyuan, Dongyuan and Riverside – which introduce more art works, exhibitions and activities into the community and life. The three routes, centering around the core of Lujiazui, mingles and shifts between history and present, modern and tradition, cosmopolitanism and plainness. They offer visitors a warm, unique and intriguing experience of the highly urbanized community beyond the “Lujiazui Three-Piece” landmarks. Hoping to organize discrete sites into the three routes, our exhibition tries to add more artistic flavor into the 15-Minute Community Life Circle, make art a part of life and let residents become principal elements of art events.
