Re: Generative City—Hongkou Lester Innovation Exhibition

The Hongkou Satellite Exhibition of SUSAS 2025 is held at the former site of the historic Lester School and Henry Lester Institute of Technical Education, a building with over a century of heritage that now stands as a symbol of national innovation. Under the theme “Re: Generative City”, the exhibition offers fresh perspectives, methodologies, and platforms for envisioning the future of cities. Drawing on Hongkou’s innovative practice of developing the North Bund as both the “Grand Halls” and a dynamic Sci-Tech Innovation District, the exhibition explores five facets of urban life: living domain, production, ecology, lifestyle, and vitality. The opening forum will convene global voices to discuss pioneering concepts and practices in international quantum city initiatives. The interactive exhibition, blending science and art, will showcase nearly 50 projects, including international exemplars, local initiatives, technological breakthroughs, and artistic expressions. Complementing the exhibition, over ten public programs—including markets, workshops, performances, and city tours—invite public participation, encouraging visitors to engage actively with this organically evolving, self-generating urban landscape.
